The analysis and interpretation of the Kratkaja Chronograficeskaja Paleja (KP) shall open a new access to one of the most important European Historienbibeln - an access which was closed for long for scholarship outside the Slavonic world. The Paleja, emerging in medieval Russia, is interwoven with Jewish and Christian textual traditions in many ways. Some notable apocryphal books did survive only in its literary context. Since more than 100 years it is considered an urgent desideratum to explore and translate the Paleja into one of the modern languages. Therefore this project intends to create two volumes, containing a critical edition of the Slavoniv text with a detailed philological apparatus, paralleled by a German translation and a historical and theological commentary of the text as well as a general introduction - concentrated on the complete KP which is one of the main branches of the Paleja-tradition at all. Thanks to an international network of specialists the project is also imbedded into the recent research of neighbouring areas.
