Project Details
Activity-Dependent Regulation of Apoptosis in Developing Rodent Cerebral Cortex. (A01)
Subject Area
Developmental Neurobiology
Term
since 2013
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 221828878
Programmed cell death (apoptosis) is an important process for the formation of neuronal networks. The molecular mechanisms regulating neuronal survival or apoptosis downstream of electrical activity will be addressed. Changes in chromatin states, which are dynamically regulated during high activity and apoptosis, will be longitudinally analysed in relation to cell survival. Finally, the functional consequences of altered cell death on developing and mature cortical networks and on behavior will be studied.
