Project Details
Role of Trib1 in Obesity and Metabolism – Tissue Specific Effects and Target Molecules (B07+)
Subject Area
Public Health, Healthcare Research, Social and Occupational Medicine
Term
from 2013 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 209933838
The gene tribbles homolog-1 (Trib1) was recently identified as one of the genes related to lipid metabolism and atherosclerosis. Given the observed significant metabolic changes in white adipose tissue and skeletal muscle of Trib1-deficient mice, the projects applies conditional knockout strategies to create mice specifically lacking Trib1 in adipose tissue and skeletal muscle. Metabolic and functional characterization of these models will elucidate how Trib1-depletion ameliorates insulin sensitivity, obesity associated adipose tissue dysfunction and ectopic fat deposition in skeletal muscle.
