Project Details
Dissecting KDEL receptor clustering at the mammalian cell surface in response to cargo binding, internalization and compartmental transport (A06)
Subject Area
Cell Biology
Term
from 2013 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 200049484
Receptor cluster formation is a ubiquitous phenomenon in pro- and eukaryotic cells to physically sense cargo/ligand interactions and subsequently translate an exogenous signal into a cellular response. As a mechanistic understanding of the molecular principles underlying these processes is still lacking, the major goal of this project is to combine genetic, biochemical and imaging data with theoretical modelling to dissect the underlying molecular processes and to identify cellular components involved in cargo-induced KDEL-receptor cluster formation, internalization and transport from and to the plasma membrane in yeast and mammalian cells.
