Adaptive Optimal Control of Variational Inequalities in Computational Mechanics (B08)

Subject Area Mechanics
Term from 2012 to 2015
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 16071898

Project Description

The optimization of the incremental rolling as well as of the grinding of thermally coated surfaces within the process chain to produce forming tools furnished with a wear-resistant coating is in the focus of this subproject. The in the second funding period developed fast, adaptive, and robust numerical optimization algorithms are extended with respect to the considered models, restrictions, goal functionals, and optimization variables. The optimization of these finishing steps substantially contributes to the process chain optimization and noticeably accelerates it.
