Dynamical control of order and transport (C09)
Subject Area
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term
from 2012 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 170620586
We will explore dynamical control of ultra-cold atom systems, in particular of order and transport. A central case will be Josephson junction transport in cold atom systems, and how it can be controlled dynamically, motivated by our proposed mechanism for light-enhanced superconductivity. We will study the dynamics of emergent order of atoms in higher bands, in particular if and how a topological state can be created. Our study of cavity-BEC dynamics will now aim at non-equilibrium orders such as time crystals. Collaborations with A6, B3, B7, B8, C1, C3, C4, C5 and C7 are envisioned.
