Project Details
Modelling of heat transfer in combustion-chamber boundary layers (C06)
Subject Area
Hydraulic and Turbo Engines and Piston Engines
Term
from 2013 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 26293245
The goal is to investigate the effects of real-gas physics and of chemical reactions within turbulent cooling films on the wall heat flux at trans- and supercritical operating conditions. The real-gas influence on the sta-bility and efficiency of real-gas cooling films will be studied. The effects of turbulence, detailed chemistry and chemistry-turbulence interaction near the cooled wall will be the focus in the study of reacting cooling films. The interaction of flames with cooled walls including roughness effects and species recombination will be investigated. The goal is to develop a model of near-wall heat transfer in reacting cooling films in numerical simulations of complete rocket combustor configurations.
