The goal of the project is the investigation and the development of inorganic composite materials for microwave applications having similar tunability compared to a BST thick film with the property of less dielectric losses and lower permittivity. Combinations of a tunable ferroelectric, namely Barium-Strontium-Titanate (Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3), and a non-tunable dielectric having low permittivity and little losses namely Magnesium Borate (Mg3B2O6) are produced and characterized to reach the goal. The main focus of this extended project is the systematic investigation of the promising approach of coating composites as well as of ternary composites. One aspect is the further development of the simulation methods in order to model the dielectric properties of the composites. The following objectives are part of the working program: 3D electro-magnetic simulation of non-linear electrical tunable composite materials, development and optimization of coated composites, realization and modelling of ternary composite materials.
