Azide-based Strategies for the Diversity-Oriented Synthesis of Macrocyclic Scaffolds

Applicant Dr. David Wilcke
Subject Area Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Biological and Biomimetic Chemistry
Term Funded in 2013
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 235232490

This research project represents a contribution to chemical genetics which comprises the study of biological systems using synthetic substances. For this purpose a huge collection of organic, macrocyclic molecules will be synthesized via diversity-oriented synthesis based on the pluripotent reactivity of the azide functionality. Subsequently, the synthesized compounds will be tested on their biological activity (e.g. antibacterial activity against multiresistent pathogens) and further optimised.
