Electronic Resource Management - management of digital publications

Term from 2013 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 237225546

The structural change in scientific work is accompanied by a demand for instant access to the latest data, information and research findings which leads to an ever-increasing number of heterogeneous digital publications. To take this change into account and to provide end users with electronic resources in the best possible manner, libraries and consortia need a suitable tool for the management of these resources that pays attention to their complex needs. This project aims for the development of a nationwide available electronic resource management system (ERMS) that allows libraries and consortia the consistent use of licencing data based on a central knowledge base for electronic resources on a local, regional and national level. Depending on a modular system architecture it will be possible to integrate a statistics server via applicable interfaces to ensure convenient generation of usage reports for electronic resources. This integration will help libraries to appropriately use their budgets for an ever-growing number of electronic resources. Open interfaces, which are controlled by a dedicated rights management, make it possible to integrate the ERMS into other systems and allow the generation of external services as an added value.
