The project proposal aims to deliver a comprehensive reassessment for the introduction of the innovations of wheel and waggon as well as the plough technology in Europe. This purpose a current and methodologically transparent evaluation of existing temporal classifications and interpretations of early evidence in the various contexts in Neolithic Europe. The need has arisen after the scientific processing of the neolithic sites of Flintbek. A special focus lies on the analysis of processes of social change stimulated by the innovations. The introduction of the innovations leads from far-reaching communication and exchange networks to small regional social units competing against each other. Moreover, the dimension of the impact of innovation on the palaeoecological sector turns out.
