Project Details
Image data analysis and agent-based modeling of the spatio-temporal interaction between immune cells and human-pathogenic fungi (B04)
Subject Area
Parasitology and Biology of Tropical Infectious Disease Pathogens
Term
since 2013
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 210879364
Project B4 uses an image-based systems biology approach to retrieve quantitative information on host-pathogen interactions that is contained in image data with the aim of exploring translational solutions. B4 will expand its methodological toolbox with machine-learning techniques from deep learning and apply these to the correlative analysis of microscopy-spectroscopy analysis on tissue samples in order to significantly accelerate diagnosis of fungal infections. Treatment of fungal bloodstream infections will be comparatively investigated and quantitatively assessed by computer simulations for the human whole-blood infection assays under various pharmacological interventions.
