Project Details
Modulation of monocytes and B cell functions by humoral immunity in response to Candida albicans (C04)
Subject Area
Parasitology and Biology of Tropical Infectious Disease Pathogens
Term
from 2013 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 210879364
C4 aims at elucidating how C. albicans changes the humoral immune response to affect the cellular response, differentiation, polarisation and interaction of effector cells, with a special emphasis on complement and antibodies, and monocytes and B cells, respectively. This includes the detailed analysis of fungal proteins and recruited human complement regulatory proteins (FHR1) and their interaction with monocytes and B cells via distinct receptors. Furthermore, the analysis of B cell populations reacting to C. albicans in reporter mice infected or colonised with C. albicans will give insights into the in vivo immune response to C. albicans.
