Project C02 aims to elucidate if and how the early degeneration of the locus coeruleus (LC) impacts on microglial homeostasis and in particular their senescence, and how this affects neuronal activity in-vivo. Given the role of the latter for neuronal degeneration and in particular tau pathology, the project is likely to identify new targets for intervention in order to prevent functional deficits and neurodegeneration.
