Triggered release of drugs from nanocarriers within the hair follicles (C05)

This project will focus on the following goals: (i) Investigation of the physical parameters influencing the follicular penetration of topically applied drug-loaded nanocarriers; (ii) novel trigger stimuli for the release of drugs from topically applied drug-loaded nanocarriers in hair follicles of intact or inflamed skin; (iii) investigation of the skin penetration of topically applied drug-loaded nanocarriers and drug release in hair follicles including transfollicular penetration. The experimental results will be compared to theoretical models of the follicular transport route.
