Project Details
Experimental investigations of pyrolysis and char conversion kinetics in plug flow configu-ration with a focus on the ignition and early char burnout phase (A02)
Subject Area
Energy Process Engineering
Term
since 2013
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 215035359
A2 delivers data for oxy-fuel pyrolysis, as well as data and models for oxy-fuel char conversion. First, the influence of oxy-fuel atmospheres on the products spectrum of pyrolysis (char, tar, gas, soot) will be analysed. Second, it will be examined which biomass properties and pyrolysis process conditions favour either the formation of thermoplast or accelerate the formation of graphitic structures resulting in thermal annealing. Third, the catalytic effects on char conversion will be quantified. Sorption effects (A6), catalytic effects (A5) and pressure influence (A1) will be included into an advanced version of the CCK oxy-fuel char conversion model to be used in project area B and C.
