Acetylation of SUMO paralogs as a determinant of SUMO-mediated protein networks

Subject Area Cell Biology
Biochemistry
Term from 2013 to 2017

Final Report Abstract

In summary, our project revealed novel insight into SUMO signaling and the interconnection of SUMO with acetylation and the SIRT1 pathway. Even though we had to adapt some of our initial plans, we feel that the project was very productive as demonstrated by a series of highly visible publications. The work on SUMO chains, which was initiated in the course of this project, has now also led to important findings with in the fields of neurodegeneration and tumor biology. The basic findings on SUMO chain signaling in the DDR lead to a very fruitful collaboration with Prof. Keller (Charité Berlin), which will ultimately open the path for novel treatment in B cell lymphoma.
