Final Report Abstract

Within this project collaboration between the Bremen and the Moscow research groups was extended. Using a new model of the Discrete Sources Method we investigated the high near fields in the gap between two touching noble metal nanospheroids. These results demonstrate that it is possible to achieve the plasmon resonance and the corresponding near field enhancement at any desired exciting wavelength just by using an appropriate configuration and material of the coupled spheroids. As the newly developed DSM extension is quite versatile we will continue to investigate problems of near field enhancement.
