Project Details
Metabolic modulation of a central reward circuit (A03)
Subject Area
Cognitive, Systems and Behavioural Neurobiology
Term
from 2014 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 222193485
To better understand and counteract metabolic disorders such as obesity and type 2 diabetes, strong efforts are being made to define the control mechanisms that regulate body weight and energy homeostasis. Recent studies have shown that noradrenergic locus coeruleus neurons play a critical role in reward-related information processing and we have shown that noradrenalin can directly modulate the homeostatic systems of the hypothalamus. Here we will assess if and how the locus coeruleus neurons are modulated.
