The success of the research unit NicHem depends on successful exchange of scientific information and mouse models, the integration of the research groups in different locations and the mentorship of young scientists and clinical investigators. In this central management project, we will establish coordinating personnel with sufficient funds to facilitate travel arrangements between the groups as well as workshops. In addition, communication and collaboration between the NicHem groups web will be facilitated by phone (and video) conferences. In addition, we will develop a user-friendly website which is not only essential as a communication tool for NicHem participants, but which will also enable communication with the general public. In addition to facilitation of communication and collaborations, we also strive to develop equal opportunities between male and female participants, by providing support for child-care and families. Moreover, since several clinical groups are involved in the NicHem consortium, we will develop the opportunity to actively involve clinical investigators as an important link between basic science and its translation into preclinical applications and the investigation of possible and clinical implementations.
