IL-22 and IL-22BP in liver regeneration and carcinogenesis (C08)
Subject Area

Our preliminary and published data indicate that IL-22 has both protective and pathogenic properties in regeneration and carcinogenesis. Thus, strict control of IL-22 is essential. This control is exerted via regulation of IL-22 production and by IL-22BP, an endogenous IL-22 inhibitor. We hypothesize that coordinated expression of IL-22 and IL-22BP in the liver is essential to control the local and temporal effects of IL-22 and thus liver regeneration and carcinogenesis. Our goal is to test this hypothesis using mouse models and to identify the mechanisms regulating IL-22 and IL-22BP.
