Analysis of material modifications with diffraction methods ((3) C01)

Subject Area Metallurgical, Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment of Materials
Term from 2014 to 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 223500200

Project Description

Material modifications, generated by manufacturing processes, will be investigated by diffraction methods, to set up process signatures. Through a tensile testing machine in a X ray diffractometer, the surface layer behavior and stability under thermo-mechanical loading will be analyzed. In-situ experiments with synchrotron radiation during deep rolling will be continued and extended to the grinding process. With this equipment, in situ time and space-resolved information about (residual) stresses and microstructural changes will be obtained during and after loading. Finally a method for fast residual stress measurement with a novel Cos- α diffractometer will be developed.
