Project Details
Mechanisms of nucleation and growth of oxide nanoparticles studied by single, levitated micro-particles (B03)
Subject Area
Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Liquids and Interfaces, Biophysical Chemistry
Term
from 2014 to 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 234149247
The experimental resources built during the first funding period will be further completed, so that the focus will be put on the controlled hydrolysis and nucleation of molecular precursors, provided by the collaborators from CRC 1109, using metastable liquids in levitated microdroplets along with in situ Raman- and X-ray-spectroscopy. The structure and composition of the resulting solid products, i.e. micro- and nanocrystals, that are formed in levitated microdroplets are subsequently probed by spectromicroscopy approaches. The results will be interpreted together with the help of model calculations.
