Within the current funding period CRC854 successfully established the integrated Research Training Group(MGK854). The MGK854-education program provides the structural basis for further qualification of excellentdoctoral researchers and for promoting scientific independence already at an early stage of the academic career. Duringthe 2nd funding period 26 scholars including 3 MD students were educated within the two-tier qualification MGK854-program that comprises a scientific study program in addition to career development modules to impart knowledgein fundamental key competences. In the 3rd funding period MGK854 wishes to build on the excellent experience withthe education program and to further develop it according to the respective needs.
