Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse
In summary, with a fruitful collaboration with the laboratory of Prof. R. Schnabel (TU Braunschweig), we identified a novel, so far uncharacterized protein PCMD-1 and uncovered its curtail role for PCM establishment in C. elegans. We will continue research on the dissection of the molecular mechanisms of PCMD-1 function. Moreover, through the mutant pcmd-1(t3421) we found that the bare absence of the PCM core from the meiotic centrioles, does not expose them to elimination signals. We are continuing investigating this issue in collaboration with the group of Prof. P. Gönczy (EPFL, Lausanne). In collaboration with the group of Prof. S. Ercan (NYU, New York City) we are planning to carry on the analysis of candidates from the transcriptome analysis of feminized germlines. We are confident that the combination of these efforts will allow us to identify the mechanisms regulating centriole elimination in C. elegans.
