Project Details
Control of eye movements by informational value (B02)
Subject Area
General, Cognitive and Mathematical Psychology
Term
since 2014
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 222641018
We actively sample visual information from our environment by moving our eyes to different locations. We will investigate how information gain and costs are taken into account for the calculation of informational value and the decision about if and where to move the eyes. Information gain will be quantified as the relative quality of information from foveal vision after the eye movement compared to information that is already available before the eye movement, either from peripheral vision or from visual working memory.
