Design of Pickering emulsions for the separation of products with different polarity (B06*)

B6 aims at evaluating alternatives for separation and switching of Pickering emulsions during reduc-tive aldehyde amination. Formulation and filtration concepts developed in the last project period will therefore be broadened and adapted. Different strategies for the required water discharge, such as separating the catalytic from the water forming reaction step, stimuli-induced phase inversion, and binding of the catalyst to the stabilising particles will be evaluated. In situ observation of drop size distribution in the filtration cake layer will deepen the understanding of filtration mechanisms and ena-ble mechanistic modelling.
