Characterization, modeling and simulation of phase separation in micellar multiphase systems (B08*)

In subproject B8, a systematic quantification of the deposition process of micellar phase systems (PE, MLS) is carried out under defined conditions by means of a precisely temperature-controlled measuring apparatus for the optical tracking of the phase separation, including the determination of the dispersion state. This is indispensable since the material composition and temperature have a drastic influence on the separation time. A detailed modeling of the separation process is carried out via the expansion of semi-empirical deposition models and by means of numerical simulations based on population balances in combination with CFD models, including the results from A9 N.
