The priority program SPP 1708 will bundle and coordinate efforts and competencies to promote the scientific and technological development of the low-temperature synthesis of inorganic materials in ionic liquids (ILs). The SPP has three main objectives:(A) Establishing IL-based resource-efficient syntheses for known functional materials.(B) Discovery of novel, even unorthodox materials that will become accessible by the special, mild conditions for syntheses in ILs.(C) Understanding the principles of dissolution, reaction and crystallization of inorganic solids in ILs.The coordination project will provide the central platform for the collaboration in the SPP. This includes the organization and realization of workshops and meetings, the promotion of young scientists, the hosting of Mercator Fellows, public relation activities, and gender equality measures.
