Numerical simulation techniques are an essential component for the construction, design and optimi-sation of cutting-edge technologies as e.g. innovative products, new materials, medical-technical applications and production processes. Since it is known that existing simulation tools cannot provide the necessary solutions, the main objective of the Priority Programme SPP 1748 is the development of modern non-conventional discretisation methods including the mathematical analysis for geometrically as well as physically non-linear problems. The coordination project presented in this proposal comprises all intended SPP activities. This in-cludes steering and coordination of SPP-internal, national and international collaboration as well as educational activities. Furthermore, it will be also concentrated on the realisation of the SPP bench-mark database, which is an important issue in order to achieve one of the main goals of the SPP: the improvement of quality, reliability and capability of numerical methods. The successful implementation and evolution of the coordination project will make it to an important and integral part of the Priority Programme.
