Subproject A02 aims at a better understanding of the buildup of residual stresses and distortion during welding of metallic materials. To this end, experimental methods are being developed to determine the transient strain progression in the weld zone with spatial resolution. In addition, the material behavior at high temperatures will be characterized. In the third phase, the developed methods are used to derive targeted compensation strategies based on derived statistical and numerical models.
