Project Details
Electron Microscopy Analysis of Melting Processes and Solidification Microstructures (A06)
Subject Area
Thermodynamics and Kinetics as well as Properties of Phases and Microstructure of Materials
Term
since 2014
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 236616214
The solidification of metallic melts leads to new alloy microstructures which are governed by physical, materials and thermodynamic effects, which have a substantial impact on the precision of the final parts on the efficiency of the compensation measures. The present project will employ a correlative and scale bridging approach which will couple the results of a direct observation of the melting/solidification processes with the results of a microstructural characterization with a range of analytical techniques.
