The aim of continuing the research project is to determine the theoretical and practically achievable improvement potential of the motor efficiency in the entire operating range by using combined star-delta circuits for distributed three-phase windings. The individual examinations should concentrate on machines with small hole numbers, since there the highest improvement potential is to be expected. Asynchronous squirrel-cage motors for grid applications, line-start PM- synchronous motors and inverter-fed synchronous reluctance motors are examined as examples. The specific selection is based on the machines available at the institute and aims to identify differences and exploitable similarities for grid or inverter operation. The research concerns the field of energy-efficient conversion of electrical energy and electric mobility.
