Project Details
Local transient face support within hydro-shields (A06)
Subject Area
Geotechnics, Hydraulic Engineering
Term
from 2014 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 77309832
In Subproject A6, the experimental investigations focus on the analysis of the penetration behavior of bentonite suspension in granular soil (macro scale) and the resulting transferable support pres-sure at the tunnel face. The deposition and filtration mechanisms and the fabric of bentonite particles in the pore space will be quantified (micro scale). The results form the basis for continuum mechanics models to investigate the face stability considering the transient penetration under cyclic soil excavation and the corresponding variation of the phase composition (suspension, sand solid, bentonite solid, water) and the constitutive parameters.
