Final Report Abstract
NiO/CdO heterostructures were fabricated (CdO with MBE at CRHEA, NiO with PLD and sputtering in Leipzig). A rectifying behavior of a NiO p-type electrode with a n-CdO layer was not observed, instead ohmic behavior was always found, being consistent with an expected type-III (tunneling) diode forming at the interface. Also, joint investigation of the CRHEA and Leipzig teams of anisotropic optical cavities and resulting singular optical modes and patterned substrates for growth of tilted nanowires were executed and published.
