Ultracold atomic gases can be manipulated through electromagnetic fields in a very versatile and precise manner. The present research program focuses on quantum transport properties of bosonic gases in the presence of interaction and disorder. Specifically, we consider low-energy excitations of interacting 2D Bose-Einstein condensates that are scattered by inhomogeneities. The scientific goal is to determine whether the strong localization threshold of excitations marks the transition from the superfluid to the Bose glass phase of the entire condensate.
