Project Details
Transient four-wave mixing with spins (A03)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2015 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 249492093
The project focuses on the coherent optical response from excitonic complexes and ensembles of resident electrons in various semiconductor nanostructures using the spin degrees of freedom. The coherent optical response will be measured by transient four-wave mixing spectroscopy in the form of two- and three-pulse photon echoes subject to an external transverse magnetic field. On the one hand, we will get unique information about the local relaxation processes within the spin ensemble which is not achievable with conventional pump-probe techniques. On the other hand, we will develop new concepts and optimize the protocols for efficient initialization and operation of optical memories.
