Project Details
Spin-dependent polariton condensates (B07)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2015 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 249492093
Target of this project will be the optical creation of tailored potentials with superior properties for polariton condensates. To this end, we will employ dark excitons because their lifetime exceeds the lifetime of polaritons by three orders of magnitude and they do not alter the polariton population dynamics directly. After a detailed characterization of dark exciton properties both for resonant and non-resonant excitation, we will apply them to polaritons in cavity structures containing diluted magnetic semiconductor quantum wells, which offer a tunable polariton spin splitting. The combination of both will allow us to control the spin state of polaritons optically.
