Bioorthogonal Nanodiamond / Glycopolymer Hybrid Design to Simulate the Structure of Viruses

Subject Area Polymer Materials
Synthesis and Properties of Functional Materials
Term from 2015 to 2018
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 271285424

Final Report Year 2018

Final Report Abstract

The current project has unambiguously shown that several attractive avenues exist – from photochemical to adsorption processes – to graft synthetic polymers including bioactive glycopolymers in a highly efficient and controlled fashion onto nanodiamonds. The project has inspired the applicants to continue working in the area of virus-inspired surface design. Dr. Andrea Lauer commenced working on an alternative co-grafting strategy exploiting λ-orthogonal photochemistry for functional nanodiamond design, which will be continued and finalized in our laboratories by Dr. Rhiannon Batechlor.
