Subject Area Basic Research in Biology and Medicine
Medicine
Term from 1998 to 2004
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 272521

The aim of the research training group is to foster theoretical and practical knowledge in Molecular Medicine for gifted advanced Students in Medicine and graduate students in the Life Sciences. By employment of state-of-the-art techniques, causes and genesis of inflammatory, degenerative and tumorous diseases are explored. Based on this experience, novel diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, superior to established present-day methods, are developed.Expert knowledge in all branches of Molecular Medicine is ensured by cooperation of established scientists in Theoretical Medicine and Clinical Medicine, who are members of the Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research in Ulm (iZKF).The curricular structure of the College is meant to offer a three semester interdisciplinary program, honoured by credits according to the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System), which can be subscribed to both, by advanced medical students and by graduate students of the life sciences (in particular Biology, Chemistry and Physics). Young gifted Medical students are attracted to the College by a complementary program specially designed for them. Foreign students enjoy support by a special IPP/PHD-Program, sponsored by the DAAD.
