The research programme faces the accelerating process ofinternationalisation of the financial markets and the flexibilisation of investment decisions, both initiated by the accomplishment of the fundamental freedoms of the EC Treaty and by the entry into the 3rd stage of the EMU. The programme enables young researchers to focus on legal problems occuring in the emerging "European financial area". At the same time the research training group serves as a platform where the fellows present the results of their research. It is a place of continious discussion and interchange of ideas among each other an thesupervising professors. In addition the fellows join a study programme which covers various aspects of the European financial area. It is aimed to elucidate the multiplicity of legal aspects of the European financial area and its nation, european and international ramifications.
