GRK 597: Analysis, Geometry and their Connection with the Natural Sciences
Subject Area
Mathematics
Term
from 2000 to 2009
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 272999
The aim of this research training group is to show the connection between the natural sciences and mathematics and to utilize it in theeducation of Ph.D. students. The research program is roughly divided into an analytic and a geometric part. The research topics come from material sciences andhydrodynamics, thermodynamics and statistical mechanics, classical mechanics, image processing, neural networks and from general relativity. It is an important concern of the education program to familiarizethe Ph.D. students with more than one application and with morethan one mathematical methodology.
