Project Details
GRK 698: Non-Equilibrium Phenomena and Phase Transitions in Complex Systems
Subject Area
Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2001 to 2004
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273285
Most of human knowledge is influenced by the behaviour of condensed matter. Teaching and research within the European research training group is focussed on a special subset of this most important field of physics, where the selection of the investigated complex materials and systems is determined by the methods used for modelling: nonlinear dynamics and statistical physics. Emphasis is put on generalized phase transitions and non-equilibrium phenomena. This combination of courses in Madrid and Bayreuth is for both sides a wonderful extension of the education offered. The internationalization connected with the extension (course language is English) guarantees that the participants learn their field of science in a modern way and that they will gain a considerable advantage in competing on the labour market.
