GRK 782: Spectroscopy and Dynamics of Molecular Aggregates, Chains, Coils and Networks
Subject Area
Polymer Research
Term
from 2002 to 2011
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 273443
Intermolecular interactions and dynamics are essential ingredients of biochemical recognition phenomena and for a molecular understanding of material properties. The focus of this interdisciplinary research training group is on the common foundations, the spectroscopic methods and the dynamical phenomena in molecular aggregates, chains, coils and networks. The partially different educational priorities and terminologies of graduated physicists and chemists are brought together in a common 2-year introductory lecture course. Methodical approaches and experimental techniques are exchanged and deepened in project weeks and seminars. This results in interdisciplinary research cooperation within and between the four project areas A: aggregation in the gas phase, B: aggregation in solution, C: soft condensed matter and D: biomolecules and their aggregation. The graduate students acquire additional skills, with many benefits in the forseeable future of rational drug and materials design.
