The project we apply for aims at the finalization of the critical edition of the last outstanding volume of the Critical Edition of Husserl's Collected Works "Husserliana" which has been funded since 2015 by the DFG. With this Husserl's posthumously published book, „Erfahrung und Urteil“, will be made accessible to the international research community as a genuinely Husserlian text. The edition will lead to a radical reappraisal of this work, which, due to the unclear authorship, has been considered for a long time as a text at least partially drafted by Husserl’s assistant Ludwig Landgrebe. This unclear authorship has weighed heavily on the historical impact of the work, even prevented it. Due to new insights into the genesis and the original manuscripts the text is based on, it is now possible to draw a clear line between the extensively revised and thus by Husserl himself authorized main text (§§ 15–98) and the introductory paragraphs largely conceived by Landgrebe on his own (§§ 1–14). A reliable edition of this book, which assesses the differentiation of authorship as well as textual criticism is therefore possible today. Meanwhile, new manuscripts that substantially illuminate the context of Husserl’s central analyses were found and will be published as complementary texts and supplements. With the critical edition of this work also the late genetic phenomenology of Husserl will be placed on a new basis. Only with the critical edition of „Erfahrung und Urteil“ Husserl's published works will be completely included in the output of Husserliana, and only with this edition several of the principal aims of the Critical Edition will be fulfilled.
