Nano-fluoride cathodes: towards "more energetic" Li-ion cells

In this project, we propose to combine the expertise of Prof. Kemnitz in the synthesis of metal fluorides and the one of Prof. Pinna in nano-structuration, nanomaterial characterization and electrochemistry for the synthesis of nanostructured transition metal fluoride-based composites for Li-Ion battery application. This unique combination of expertise will allow to precisely control the chemical, structural and morphological properties of the material synthesized and to also step beyond the state of the art in the understanding of structure-property relationships in transition metal fluoride-based positive electrode materials in Li-Ion battery applications.
