Polymers containing homoconjugation: A new class of TADF-materials

This project focuses on the synthesis of novel, conjugated polymers with small singlet-triplet exchange energies. The resulting materials shall be attractive emitters for efficient OLED applications due to thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF). The key to this phenomena is a disjoint localization of the frontier molecule orbitals, which can be achieved by the co¬poly-merization of nitrogen containing heteroiptycenes with electronpoor and electronrich arms.In detail the size, strength and distribution of the donor and acceptor moiety shall be analyzed with respect to the effectiveness of orbital separation. Finally Copolymers will be synthesized to learn more about the influence of the polymer type and the electronic properties of the comonomer.The photophysical properties of all polymers will be examined, to clearify the electronic structure and the singlet triple exchange energy. Profound knowledge about solubility and film formation will be necessary for subsequent determination electroluminescence performance data. The OLEDs will be processes in a cooperation. The application in organic solar cells will be considered as singlets and triplets in a thermal equilibration might increase the diffusion length of excitones.
