Project Details
Technology and investigations of topological crystalline insulators (A05)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2015 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 258499086
The MBE of (Pb,Sn)(Te,Se) TCI layers will be continued and focused on quaternary compounds, thin multilayers structures and magnetic doping. The MBE parameters, counterdoping and pn-heteroepitaxy will be optimized for reaching insulating or n-doped bulk properties. The crystalline symmetry protecting the 4 TCI surface states will be controlled by surface orientation, thickness and lattice strain of the layers. The structural symmetry, structural defects, magnetism, as well as their impact on TCI surface states of the structures will be studied by XRD, EDX, TEM, SQUID, ARPES, STM, STS, and magnetotransport measurements.
