To reduce energy consumption, a known strategy is to distribute the computational tasks among multiple processors operating at lower frequencies. In order to efficiently distribute computations to save energy and dynamically add or remove redundancy for reliability and flexibility, we advocate for a novel coded approach to distributed computing. We will use the lessons learned in coded communication (transport and storage of information) to extend this knowledge to stateful information, i.e., distributed computing.
