Inscriptions within ancient Greek Historiography and the Imperial Novel (C08)

The project explores inscriptions in Classical historiography (2nd funding period) and the Imperial novel (3rd funding period). The analysis of fictional and factual texts across the boundaries of historical epochs gives insights into ancient reflections on the epigraphic habitus and permits to read the texts freshly as meta-texts, which use embedded inscriptions to shed light on their own textual status.
